Play EVE instead, because it'll be more fun than trying to smash your head against a wall due to ass KB/M control in DUST.
Now that I've actually said it out loud... I find I'm more serious about that suggestion than I initially thought I would be.
That said, if you really want to get it done, then here's my advice.
This:

is so wrong I don't even know where to begin with it. In fact, for anyone who actually uses the KB/M, it will be quite obvious as to why this is wrong.
That said I did quite religiously use the ScR for a long time, but it just ended up becoming very frustrating for some reason when Uprising 1.9 dropped, at which point I'm basically just sitting on my characters and praying for the day when we get Legion and[/] SSO so I can just run my 20+ million SP (probably closer to 50mil+ SP when Legion hits) EVE character instead.*
This advice, however:
Bethhy wrote:[Most Mouse users stick around projectiles because they don't rely on the crappy hit detection system. So Mass Drivers, Flaylocks. Plasma cannons.. Or Jump in a Tank, Which aren't in the best place right now.
For Mouse sensitivity... It's best to leave it at 50 in DUST. Turn off your controller(Hold PSN Button) Then set your DPI from your mouse... Even with a good mouse and pad the fine aim is just off slightly.. it will always be slightly off consistently....Specially with Frame rate drops, which happen alot in this game.
Is quite reasonable and accurate. I will comment that "spray guns" like the SMG work well enough for dropping already-injured players and I personally had moderate success with the Magsec when using it as a complement to the ScR.
I do also think the LR would be moderately successful on a KB/M setup- you probably would get better results using a DS3, but the main driver in performance for a LR user is more likely to be an intimate familiarity with LR mechanics.
I would, however, caution against tanks, and instead suggest LAVs. A fit I considered using before I began a break from DUST shortly after 1.9 dropped is as follows:
Saga (IE, Caldari LAV)
60mm Basic Plate (MLT if you're cheap and it fits, I don't remember and don't care to turn on my PS3 to check) MLT mCRU or a Nitro Scanner, variant to taste/skills
Before I get to the turret choice, I'll quickly explain the module choice: most people are going to be running one of three types of suits:
freefit Starter/cheap MLT medframe rigs heavies of any variety undamped high-end medframes
Hence, a scanner offers great situational awareness. For the second high slot, a Nitro is good for getting around quickly or more likely making a fast escape (or LAV racing buddies and having contests about who can run over more blues in FW). An mCRU is going to be either you working with your squadmates, or more likely, just trying to farm +50s off of blues when they spawn in- just remember the following to bits regarding the mCRU:
1. mCRUs are only visible for spawning on them when your clone is terminated. 2. if your vehicle is full, players using the mCRU will be spawned outside the vehicle.
The plate is there to add some spare buffer if (really when) you get ambushed by something. This is especially important since most of the utility mods for vehicles are in the highs, and both highs are used for said utility. As an aside, I don't know offhand if you can fit a Nitro+mCRU+60mm plate if you forgo a turrret- but you will have to pick two out of three if you mount a gun.
For a turret, I recommend the Blaster turret. If, OTOH, you possess a Saga BPO variant, then the pre-fit missile turret that the Saga BPOs all sport is also a reasonable choice if you want to run really cheap.
Many will consider Blaster turrets to be "bad" for LAVs. My opinion is that they are more likely to kill infantry than railguns are, due to rails have lolhitreg issues. Moreover, carrying either a PLC, LR, or a FG is you want to get really into it, can compensate for not having good range on the gun.
Of course, the gun is only really there so that you can farm points off of blues who decide to jump in, much like the mCRU is there.
Also, don't listen to this guy:

While I have no experience with the two specific devices he mentions, I did at one time have a Tuact Aimon PS, which is pretty much the same thing from a different company (I love capitalism). I will comment that most reviews I saw commented on the Tuact device having a better build quality that seemed more durable, but that's not why I think his advice is bad.
It really comes down to the following two issues:
1. Using the device in "mouse mode" gives little practical advantage- about the only useful thing is being able to remap grenades from using either "X" or "G" to a thumb button.
2. Using the device in "controller mode" kills the entire purpose of using it, IMO. This has more to do with DUST's ridiculously slow DS3 controls though. However, it also seems ridiculous to me to try and emulate a DS3 using a bastardized half-and-half device, rather than just going straight for a specialty item like the XIM4.
As a side note on the XIM: I can't comment on it; I've never used one.
*My EVE toon has more swag (on account of having a real face), a cybernetic arm, [i]and' the ability to don some fine Amarrian threads. Plus, the new Confessor-class T3 destroyer is probably the best-looking ship in the entire game, and... well.
The space babes dig a mustachioed man in fine Amarrian threads flying a fine Amarrian warship surrounded by fine Amarrian ladies.
But I digress.
